Summer Associate information

Why Join CAC as a Summer Associate?

Summer Associate gives you priority access to our two lodges and member tariffs in the off-peak season, the ability to book guests, and invitations to social activities.

CAC is offering Summer Associate status as a trial, until the end of the off-peak 2027-28 season.  Summer Associates pay an annual fee but no joining fee.

Summer Associates are not full members, and cannot sponsor others as members or associates, stand as or nominate Committee members, or vote at General Meetings.

Who is eligible to join?

Any person aged 5 years or over can apply to become a Summer Associate.  Those aged 5 – 18 should nominate as Junior Summer Associates, and those aged 18 and above for Adult Summer Associate.

What do I get as a Summer Associate?

You can book accommodation at our lodges in Off-peak season (generally mid-September to mid-June), at Members rates, except for specific exclusion periods around Easter and Christmas/New Year.

You can also book in guests (at guest rates).

You are welcome at Club social events, and can receive the Club journal (Frozen Acres) and email newsletters, and join the Club’s Facebook group.

What don’t I get as a Summer Associate?

Summer Associates can’t book accommodation at our lodges in Peak season, or during specific exclusion periods (Christmas/New Year and Easter). You can of course be booked in by a member as a guest (at guest rates).

Summer Associates are not Club members, and do not have voting rights. You cannot sponsor new members (or new Summer Associates), or stand as a Committee member, or nominate others for the Committee.

Joining as a Summer Associate does not provide a short cut to full membership of the Club.

So it’s a trial – what does that mean?

CAC is trialling the Summer Associate program, until the end of the Offpeak 2027-28 season. The trial will be reviewed each year, and details may be tweaked during the trial. At the end of the trial, a decision will be made on whether to continue with Summer Associates, cease the program, or extend the trial. If the program is continued, it may be restructured – for example, Summer Associates may be formalised in the Club’s Constitution, and an entrance fee may be introduced, for existing Summer Associates as well as new ones.

There is no guarantee that the Summer Associates program will be continued past the end of the 2027-28 season. Joining as a Summer Associate does not provide priority if you choose to apply for full membership of the Club.
